Will the REAL candidate for president, please stand up? In this world of pretenders, America has had quite enough of having to vote for nothing more than the ‘Lesser of two evils”. Where are the war heroes? Where are the people who have lived, cried, worked and sweated with normal Americans to feed their families? All we ever get anymore is “Career Politicians.” Is this what was intended at the very beginning of our History when our forefathers created the job? Huh? At least President Reagan was an actor instead of born and bred blue blood material.
Why can’t we nominate someone more personal to be our next president instead of the current circus we are presented with? Some people speculate that a Clinton/Obama or an Obama/Clinton ticket would be great. But what you end up with is the same: A woman who is possibly corrupt to the core, with a track record of mysterious deaths while pushing her husband into office, or a man with less experience than other ones in history, riding on the coat tails of his color for the black vote.
It is a race related or sex related contest with neither one having the qualities for election that is vital to running our country the next 4 years, or the next four minutes for that matter. How could we possibly think that this is a good option for our people?
What are our values? This is what I see as the basics of what our people need:
Truth, justice, fairness,
Work with adequate pay for our jobs.
Experienced, affordable medical care for ALL social classes.
Affordable university education.
Compensation for our soldiers and their families with a promise of war resolution.
Stability of our economy with less export and more emphasis on small business and American made products.
Remember: The President is Commander and Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States. He or she can declare war, make friends and enemies of foreign nations, pardon people in jail, stabilize or wreck our economy, enact laws which can be helpful or harmful to our families, and establish the atmosphere we will live in for maybe the next decade of our civilization. Who do we really want to give this power to?
Be brave. If nothing changes before November, we’d all be better off at voting time to just put a big black X on NONE OF THE ABOVE.

I have asked these same questions. In particular, I find myself constantly asking, “Out of the millions of Americans we have, these are the best of the best?” We the people no longer choose our president and have not for some time. As the primaries have always made clear you have to be rich or have tons of money backing you to win and most of the country never gets a say because of the timing in between primaries. If we want real change, we definately need to vote for a third party candidate or write someone in. I really like your idea of “none of the above” as well.
I’m not so sure that Barack Obama qualifies as a career politician. Granted I haven’t much of his books or heard him speak beyond what McNuggets they show on the one or two newscasts I watch per week. But if any of the current candidates doesn’t reek of “Pick Me! Pick Me!” it’s him.
And I’m not sure how fair it is to categorically claim that he’s “riding on the coat tails of his color for the black vote.” It would be interesting to see some statistics regarding how many black voters are pulling for him as opposed to Hillary Clinton.
This is a well written post. You’ve obviously thought these things through, and have given me some food for thought.

You have a point about Barak Obama maybe not being a career politician, …he speaks the speak real well,,,and is charismatic, but I would like to see how many blacks are voting for him just because, and if he were white……if he would be a strong contender against Clinton, standing on his own? I always voted republican before because I am against unnecessary abortion, but I believe some changes should be made now in government. But who is there to pick? I would like to see a fireman, or someone else with integrity who has laid his life on the line. Is that selfish? What if the whole US were to reject the candidates this time and ask for a total re-do. Esp as things are heating up and the only major quality needed for election now is the being better at slamming whatever garbage you can at the other contender.
As a non american socialist (moderate) but with opinions on moral issues, for all the disillusionment you express, and you hear the same thing in every election, the US may be saying goodbye to the most morally “stanced” presidencys ever, isn’t that how lobby or power interest groupings work?
The US may discover the other side of the coin if as seems likely the liberal lobby become the predominant force after november.
Hey you are clever I had to read the whole thing before I was sure you were rep.
